I am obsessed with finding a way to crack the casino. My brother has won a lot of money with the martingale system (betting 5 bucks…if you lose then bet 10…lose then bet 20….and so on til you win a hand…then bet 5 again). He swears upon that system and he says that he always looks for the dealer with the least confidence…and that he (my brother) never hits anything above a 12. I went to the casino with my friend last night and we both used that style and won a little money…..but I went home and did the math on a piece of paper….and started shaking after I found out how mathematically poor of a strategy that really is.
Can somebody give me some advice on a good betting strategy?

There is no betting system that beats the house on the long run in blackjack. Every game has a house edge in favor of casinos. You can beat the odds with card counting but today you could hardly use this method because the cards, even in single deck games, are reshuffled after each hand or card (online). So, the best way to lose less or win something in the short run is using optimal blackjack strategy that is frequently presented in forms of strategy cards, specific to blackjack versions. Plus you can use signup bonuses at online casinos… You can find strategy cards to some popular online blackjack games on the site in source.
You and your brother are both destined to lived on the street. How do I know this? Just from your opening statement: “I am obsessed with finding a way to crack the casino.”
I was obsessed for many years. I tried system after system after system. Winning money at the casinos is one of the easiest things you can do! There were many times I walked away with an extra thousand bucks or so.
The problem is that it’s just a little bit EASIER to lose the money!
The only long-term way to beat blackjack specifically is to count cards. It’s not easy, and anyone that does it correctly says it’s not fun. If you do it perfectly, you’ll gain a SMALL edge over the casino. If you do well enough at the casino, you’ll eventually be asked not to come back.
You won’t ever reach the stage where you won’t be asked to come back, though. You and your brother are both junkies. I’m not saying this to be mean or insulting. Believe me – it takes one to know one. If I had a nickel for every dollar I blew trying all my systems, I’d be rich right now.
I’m glad you at least realize how horrible the Martingale System is. If your brother continues to use it, he will go bust big time. All other systems are either spin-offs on the Martingale System, or they are equally incapable in beating the casino games.
Focus on what you are REALLY going to do in this life to earn a living. The longer you spend trying to “crack the casino”, the more of your life you will ultimately p*ss away.
Learn to count. Card counting has always been an effective strategy. Even against multi decks. Watch, wait and count. When the count is in your favor, bet big. Be careful though. This is how card counters get caught. I should know, I have been banned from playing Black Jack and half the casinos in Vegas. If the count is in your favor and you bet big and win, then take your money and get out of there as fast as you can. Otherwise you will wind up in the security office of the casino for several hours while they ask you all kinds of useless and stupid questions. If this happens don’t panic. They will try all sorts of gestapo tactics. Don’t even blink and eye. Give them nothing but your name. The moment they see they can intimidate you, your sunk. Hold your ground.
Here is the strategy that I use. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t but I usually win more than I lose. Get it for free here http://beatcasinoblackjack.com
there is no way you can turn a house favored game into a player favored game by means of bet manipulation
the one exception in a casino is card counting because you know what is coming next – and even then the edge is minimal at best –
blackjack is a beautiful game in its simplicity but the player is usually favored to either lose or NOT get his or her desired result –
players win for the most part when they get dealt 19 or better on the first two cards – thats it!
considering dealers only bust about 30% of the time overall – the casino has a big edge at blackjack-
your idea of being obsessed with cracking the casino – many have been almost all have failed –
theres two ways to make consistent money in a casino – poker and sportsbetting – and sports betting is so much harder than poker – its still a small population compared to the number who try – but there is ALOT of people who have won thousands if not millions in poker – without losing a ton – most people who bet sports lose.
All casino games you are fooling yourself or you are just ignorant about the math and statistics behind the house edges at these games – they can not be beaten – you cant crack the house edge at these games with will power – a sledgehammer or a bulldozer – you are ultimately wasting your time – your fortune – and sometimes your sanity!
good luck:)
You can’t win in the long run so keep the “run” short. Play for no more than a hour each visit. If you play longer you are not playing for fun, you are addicted and your chances of winning go down.
You will never win if you don’t quit when you are ahead. If you keep playing you will lose. So, if you get a set amount ahead, say $50 (if you are small time like me) just get up and leave. Consider it a win and get something to eat.
You should also set a loss limit but then some of your visits will be quite short.
