I have read about the Illustrious 18, and understand that if the true count is at or above the index number, that you should deviate from basic strategy. This is what I am confused about: What about the indexes that are negative? Example: 13 vs. 3 has an index of -2. Does that mean that if the running count is higher (more positive) that I should still hit on that? Or only if it is lower (more negative)?

Ok I understand the true count aspect and everything. I am a rookie counter and have only been doing it for a few months now. I have had much better luck on a two deck table then a six deck table. Should i consider different counting styles when going between the two or have i just been on a cold streak when playing on the six deck tables?

I know that cards 2-6 are +1, 7-9 are 0 (neutral), and 10-A are -1. But I don’t get how I actually use it in a game. PLEASE, I NEED HELP.

I know when you bet your supposed to calculate the true count, but now most casinos do not keep the discard pile or shoe(rest of the cards) above the table, and you need those to find the true count since you divide the remaining decks from the count you have.

Even though you think you have the cards counted, how can you be so sure??? There are 52 cards in a deck, don’t the dealers use 2 or 3 decks??? How can anyone be so sure that they can bet and win?
