is basic strategy in blackjack BS or is it me?

Assuming most people don’t count cards at table

Everyone seems to believe in the basic strategy method to play blackjack but if you study the math behind it – Isn’t the player favored to lose?

in all hands totaling 9-16 on the chart not counting soft hands or pairs

there is 80 hands , 44 of the 80 hands seem to give bad advice Does that mean the house has a 10% theoretical edge if you follow it?

Futher examples – all 9, 10, 11 doubles you have 38-46% chance of getting good card so hence isnt doubling a bad bet?

Assuming dealer has a 10 in the hole is only a 31% chance

all hands they say to hit on 15/16 odds are against you?

all hands they say to stand on 12 through 14 the odds are against you?

Someone explain is Basic Strategy all Crap or am i missing something?

How does basic blackjack strategy vary with the count?

Ok, so i understand how to vary the bet size according to the count. But i dont know EXACTLY how to modify basic strategy depending on the count. ie. when to split 10′s, stand on 16 etc. Does anyone know or where i can find out.

Please let me know what counting strategy you answer applies to.

I’m also looking to write a program that keeps the perfect count so i know every card left in the deck. How can i use this info to sdjust basic strategy.

Thanks.
Legfujohnson – Depends where you are playing ;)
materyebyets – if the count was high, I would split 10s, but at what count would i split 10s against a six for example? Against an 8 surely the count would need to be even higher to split 10s. I’m looking for exact numbers here.

In Blackjack Basic Strategy what’s the reasoning in standing if a dealer’s up card is a 7 and you have two 9′s

notice that in Blackjack Basic Strategy with the (rules defined as found on this page: )

http://www.blackjackinfo.com/bjbse.php?numdecks=8+decks&soft17=s17&dbl=all&das=yes&surr=ns&peek=yes

that you will split with a dealer’s up card being a 8 or a 9. However you will stand on a 7. Seems counterintuitive.

I’m looking for a casino so i can take their bonus using basic strategy at blackjack?

I want to put in money recieve a % bonus and play basic strategy through out the playthrough amount them when I have reached that amount I withdraw my money. If the bonus is high enough and the play through is low enough it is profitable as you only lose approx 1-2% of your total bets. I just need the best casino to do this at.

Basic Blackjack strategy says to hit your 16 against the dealers Ace showing….?

But do the odds and percentages take into account that the dealer has looked at his hole card and it is not a 10? This seems to me to be a very important factor because by not having 21, you now know that he does not have 16 of the cards that will make his hand…I asked this yesterday, but I don’t think the strategy acknowledges that the dealer checks his hole card…..
