Pandora production case video

Here's a video of a full boot after the initial setup. There's an edit near the end before power down because it was still loading that blackjack game and wouldn't let me do anything until it was done so I chopped that part out. Things are coming together at a better pace now. Oh, I should mention that touch screen calibration isn't set up yet, something about not actually using a script or something. I don't know. I'm the hardware guy. ;) The corners are a little hard to hit as a result and me trying to reach around the box my camera is mounted on didn't help either. It was a bit frustrating trying to tap those tiny little boxes but it would have been easier if held right up in front of my face.

  1. This is crazy! It’s got a lot of potential, I personally could do without the full computer experience….I’d be fine with a handheld console dedicated to emulate PSX and N64 Roms. but that’s just me. STP ftw!

  2. I could install Google Chrome OS in the pandora if I bought it and when the OS is released…

  3. can’t wait. and it will be well worth the 330. just got my google invoice the other day. YESSSSSSSS! now all i gotta do is pay for it. lol.

  4. errrm… i think on wiki it said it would go for $330 US, but that info could be old or something.

  5. 7. Its kind of big for my prefrences, i think i may wait for a smaller version to come out that will fit in my pocket!

  8. Yeah. They said that actual suspend-to-ram is really difficult because some of the drivers don’t work properly over suspend, but they’ll implement a fake suspend that underclocks the CPU and shuts down the other chips, which is much easier than a proper suspend and still has decent battery life.

  9. This is pretty early firmware, and the boot time will be optimised. Even better though, there will be a suspend function to give it PDA-style “instant on”. Battery life in standby mode will be enormous, so you’ll rarely have to sit through a full boot.

  10. It’s running some heavy stuff. Things will get better with software updates- it’s still not technically out yet.

  11. u cant really compare 600mhz arm to 600mhz x86…
    but i get what u say…

well, lets hope theyre going to optimize it

  12. Very excited about this, great stuff.

Will there be any way to cut down on the boot time (by trimming loaded modules etc)?
