It’s not difficult.
Once you understand the game, most of the strategy choices are common sense (allowing the dealer to bust, etc)
nope…..for a dollar you can buy it printed on a plastic card at every casino gift shop and bring it to the table with you…
If you wnat to best your odds, you NEED to memorise the tables, or bring a copy of one with you to the table when you play (they allow you to do that)
Since you asked, yes, peopel have, I have, and many others have as well.

With basic playign strategy, depending on the rules, you will play at ~0.5% +/-0.2% siadvantage. this is a drastic improvement over the average 5%+ disadvantage that the average player plays with.
doubling down and splittign are very valuabel to the player, and can almost entirely negate the house edge when you employ perfect playign strategy, however since most players double down when it isnt appropriate, or dont doubel down when it is, they often end up losing more money than they should.
So yes it is VERY usefull at the table. it litteraly means you will lose 10% of the money you woudl be without using it.

If you define successful play as a winning expectation, yes, however it is not enough to have a winnign expectation, in addition to basic strategy you also need to learn how to count cards, and how to modify payign strategy based on other factors.

It is in my opinion the best way to learn it.
Mastering the rest of he games takes several months, and to truely understand everythign about blackjack takes years, the games is very multidimentional, and much more complex than it apears at first glance.
Is it necessary? No, but you will eventually memorize it from playing. You can bring a basic strategy chart to the table to refer to during play! Casinos don’t mind, and the chart will help you to minimize the house’s advantage over you. Here’s a link to a free chart http://GamblingReviewsSite.com/casinogames
